Your rights under the Act
- Prompt access to public records that are not confidential or excepted from disclosure — nonconfidential information must be produced as soon as reasonably possible, without delay. Ten business days is not an automatic waiting period.
- If records cannot be produced within 10 business days, written certification and a reasonable date and time when they will be available.
- If the district is seeking an Attorney General ruling to withhold information, written notice to you by the 10th business day, or by the 10th day when no responsive information exists or information is withheld under a prior determination.
- An itemized statement of estimated charges in advance when costs will exceed $40, including information about less costly access when available.
Frequently requested records — budgets, audits, agendas and minutes, and the reappraisal plan — are public records of the district. Appraisal roll data is available through the district office.
Accessibility Statement
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA is the accessibility target for this site; this statement does not certify that every page, document or interaction conforms. As a special district government under 28 C.F.R. § 35.104, this district's technical compliance date under the ADA Title II web accessibility rule is April 26, 2028 28 C.F.R. Part 35, as amended; existing ADA effective-communication and equal-access duties apply regardless of that date. Texas accessibility rules in 1 TAC Ch. 206, 213 principally govern state agencies and universities — this district may use them as a benchmark, not as a rule that automatically applies to a local government.
- "Skip to main content" link and keyboard-operable navigation on every page
- Semantic landmarks, headings, and labeled controls for screen readers
- Visible focus indicators and WCAG-AA color contrast
- Responsive layout that supports 200% zoom and mobile devices
Report a barrier: if you have difficulty using any part of this site or need content in an alternative format, contact us at info@longhorncad.org or (512) 555-0180. Please describe the page and the problem. We aim to respond within two business days as a voluntary service goal — this is not an ADA deadline, and it does not delay an urgent access need.
Records Retention
District records are managed under the Local Government Records ActLocal Gov't Code Ch. 201–205 and the retention schedules the Texas State Library and Archives Commission has adopted for appraisal districts, including Schedules GR and TX. How long a record is retained depends on its content and function, not simply whether it appears on this website — removing a page does not by itself authorize destroying the record it came from, and a legal hold can require preservation beyond the ordinary schedule.
