Board of Directors & Public Meetings

The district is governed by a board of directors — Tax Code § 6.03 in a county under 75,000 population, § 6.0301 in a county of 75,000 or more. Board and ARB meetings are open to the public. Written notice of each meeting, stating the date, hour, place and subject, must be posted where the public can read it for at least three business days before the meeting date (Gov’t Code § 551.041, § 551.043(a), as amended eff. Sept. 1, 2025). This district also posts each notice and agenda on this website.

Governance and transparency

The board adopts the district's budget after a public hearing (Tax Code § 6.06), contracts for an annual independent financial audit (§ 6.063), and adopts a written reappraisal plan (§ 6.05(i), § 25.18). These documents are public records; request copies through the Public Information page.

For an appointive or elective board position with a term beginning on or after January 1, 2026, the candidate must sign and submit the state's acknowledgment of duties to the chief appraiser before appointment, or before filing a ballot application, as applicable — not simply at the start of the term (Tax Code § 6.0302).
