Agricultural Special Appraisal
Qualifying land is not exempt from property tax. Instead, it is appraised on its agricultural productivity value rather than its market value — commonly called agricultural or open-space (1-d-1) special appraisal§§ 23.51–23.55. Eligibility depends on the land's current agricultural use, its use history, and local intensity standards; acreage alone does not establish eligibility. Apply on Comptroller Form 50-129. Converting the land to a non-agricultural use can trigger a rollback tax.
This is a general summary, not a complete guide to agricultural appraisal. Check this district's local requirements and the Comptroller's agricultural guidance ↗.
Your Privacy in Online Records
Address confidentiality § 25.025
Texas law does not provide a general opt-out from publishing a property owner's name. Certain individuals, including peace officers, judges, prosecutors and victims of family violence, stalking, sexual assault or trafficking, may restrict public access to their home address in the appraisal records by filing Comptroller Form 50-284 with the chief appraiser. That election stays in effect until you rescind it in writing.
What we never post § 11.48, § 25.025–.027
Supporting documents filed with exemption applications (driver's licenses, medical or military records) are never posted online. Home-address information is withheld for individuals with an approved confidentiality request, and interior photographs of homes are never published.
